Arm\u00e9 de 16 \u00e0 24 canons, il emportait un  \u00e9quipage de 300 \u00e0 450 hommes. Ses trois m\u00e2ts lui permettaient de  s&#8217;adapter aux vents. Par exemple, en cas de vent favorable mais faible,  des voiles carr\u00e9es \u00e9taient amen\u00e9es sur les deux premiers m\u00e2ts. En cas de  vents contraires, des voiles latines ou trap\u00e9zo\u00efdales \u00e9taient  utilis\u00e9es.
